Your customers already know your fax number. Moving it to Faxpresso is a one-time $10 per number, and you can start faxing on a temporary number the same day.
How it works
- Sign up and choose "Keep my current number".
- Get a temporary number right away, so you can send and receive while the move happens.
- Fill in the transfer form. We ask for the details your current provider uses to confirm it's your number (below).
- We handle the request with your current provider and keep you updated by email and in your account.
- On the switch date, faxes to your old number start arriving at Faxpresso. Your temporary number is then released, unless you'd like to keep it as a second number.
Don't cancel your old service yet. Cancelling before the move finishes can lose the number for good. Your old provider's service ends automatically when the move completes.
What we'll ask for
- The name and address on your current account, exactly as your provider has them
- Your account number, and PIN if your provider uses one
- The name of the person allowed to approve the move
- A recent bill from your current provider (a photo or PDF is fine)
How long it takes
Usually one to three weeks. The date depends on your current provider, who has to release the number. We'll tell you the date as soon as it's set.
Can my number move?
- Most US local fax numbers: yes
- Numbers from a phone company, VoIP service or another online fax service: usually
- Toll-free numbers (800, 888 and so on): not yet
- Numbers outside the US: not yet
When we open, we'll check your number when you sign up and tell you right away if it can move.

Is there a fee?
Yes, a one-time $10 per number. It covers the paperwork with your current provider, and we charge it when we send the request. If your number can't be moved, we refund it. Picking a brand-new number instead is free. Your old provider may also charge an early-termination fee if you're in a contract with them, so check before you start.
Will I miss faxes during the move?
Your old number keeps working with your old provider until the switch date, and your temporary number works from day one. On the switch day itself there can be a short gap of a few minutes to a few hours.
What if the move is rejected?
Usually it's a detail that doesn't match your old provider's records, like the account name or address. We'll tell you what they said and help you fix it.
Can I take my number with me if I leave Faxpresso?
Yes. Ask your new provider to move it. There's a one-time $10 service fee per number, charged to your card on file after the move. We never delay or block a move to collect it.
